Canon Point: Episode 26, right before LIGHTING THE DARKEST HOUR and all.
Setting: In yet another version of the Transformers universe, the (generally) good Autobots and (mostly) evil Decepticons are again locked in an ancient war with one another. If you don't know what Transformers are, well: Transformers are giant robots that disguise themselves like vehicles – usually earth vehicles – and beat the ever loving crap out of one another because they are always in the middle of a space robot war. They come from the planet Cybertron, and they are, in fact, fully sentient beings that feel, and love, and grieve, and hate. They even have physical, semi-tangible souls, in the form of 'sparks', or little balls of mystery space energy that form the core of their being. They can't live without them, and you could probably argue that they are technically energy beings housing themselves in robotic shells...but that is hardly the point. And where is the fun in that? GIANT ROBOTS JUST SOUND BETTER.
Like most of the more recent TF Universes, the ongoing war that is the main plot point was spawned by many things, and neither side started out completely black or white. Conflicting ideals, a corrupt council enabling a vast gulf between economic classes, a stifling, rigid caste system, and apparently, a bit of a jealous grudge on Megatron's part against Optimus, all contributed to the outbreak of war. The fighting has gone on for literally millions of years, killing off great chunks of the Cybertronian population, wrecking their homeworld, and bringing previously unknown levels of strife to their culture.
But before this, backstory! In a way, Cybertronians were literally made for war. In this universe at least, Primus, physical creator god of the Cybertrionians, built/made/poofed into existence the first Thirteen Cybertronians to ever exist, to help him fight the evil of Unicron. Unicron being the really giant robot space Satan, who wants to destroy life and/or the universe. With the Thirteen of them along with their god fighting against the giant titan, Unicron was successfully cast out into the far reaches of space, supposedly banished forever.
This becomes important, later.
In this continuity, Dark Energon, also suspiciously known as the Blood of Unicron, has been used as a weapon of war. It empowers and in turn corrupts machines and living robotics alike, and during the war on Cybertron, corrupted the planet's very core, forcing the transformers to flee their home so the living planet could heal itself, and spread their war to the stars.
...And in the case of dead Cybertronians, dark energon brings them back to life.
As robot zombies.
There has yet to be a successful zombie robot apocalypse, but we can only hope.
At the 'present day' point in the war and setting for the show, Optimus Prime, leader of the Autobots, along with a small contingent of of his faction are on Earth, where an unusually high amount of dark energon is present. As the Decepticon high command, lead, of course, by Megatron, has also located this stockpile, a smaller scale version of the war has broken out between the two factions once more. As of yet, the war remains small and secret, and only a small portion of the US government knows they exist. Human children who discovered the secret war are stuck in the middle and are under the protection of the Autobots, but as this is Transformers that is only to be expected.
...And, as it turns out, Unicron himself, after being cast out billions of years ago, ended up forming the Earth's very core. Shifty use of geology science aside, this explains the mystery energon deposits, and should he wake up, could split the planet like an egg if he so much as stretched. DUDE.
Personality: "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.”
Optimus Prime is a noble, stoic leader, unyielding in his quest for freedom. Despite the many hardships and losses throughout the long war, Prime presses on, confident in his ideals and forever hopeful for a day when peace might finally come to the Cybertronian people, and the rest of the entire freaking universe.
...He is a giant robot Jesus, basically. The quintessential good-guy, noble leader, purity paladin, optimistic until the bitter end, etc. He only very rarely displays any sense of humor, but he is a very patient, kind person, willing to take responsibility for his own faults and failures. He is also willing to set aside old grudges and bitter hatred for the greater good, even if it means allying with his most violent enemy and trusting that he won't get stabbed in the back in the process.
That's not to say he's completely untouched by the war, however. And it is a war. He has killed, and will continue to kill, often without mercy in the heat of combat. He's is capable of giving orders that will send good people, allies and friends, to their deaths, if there is no other choice. Despite how much it many grieve him. He puts his duty and innocents first, everyone else second, and himself last.
His logic also sometimes leaves something to be desired. Protecting the human children that have discovered their secret and are now Decepticon targets? All well and good. ...Constantly letting them slip along on missions, and keeping them company when out in the field? Not so smart. But it's a cartoon, so the Human Element is kind of guaranteed. Not that it makes him look any better.
Also he was oncereally, really close to friends with Megatron. He gave voice to unspoken longings inspired Optimus, once Orion Pax, to rise above the old caste system that was causing Cybertron to stagnate and allowed for mass oppression of the lower, poorer classes. But he failed to see Megatron's own lust for power of his own. He was briefly blinded by his own sentimentality for his 'brother', and once he became Prime, the conflict between the two helped serve as a final spark for the war.
Abilities, Weaknesses, and Power Limitation Suggestions:
Optimus is a giant robot, and one of the most powerful of his race at that. He can turn into a truck, and is every bit as strong as his massive 30ish foot high size suggests. He wields twin blasters, and massive blades with millennia of skill. Only a very select few can meet him in single combat and triumph.
Also, he has the Matrix of Leadership chilling in his chest, which provides him with the collective wisdom of the past Primes before him. And can use it to Care Bear Stare the CRAP out of Unicron.
But like anyone, he can be overwhelmed with a greater show of force. Sneak attacks can best him, as well as they can anyone else. Dark energon, great shocks of electricity, and extreme cold can affect him as well as any other Cybertronian.
His greatest weakness, though, is the use of hostages and innocents against him. Innately self-sacrificing, he is all too readily willing to fight on even against stupidly impossible odds if it means saving others.
If he need to be reduced in size or raw power for the context of the game, that is easily possible.
Inventory: His guns, blades, and the Matrix. Other then built in communicators and other fiddly bits, I don't think he has much else on him.
Appearance: Giant red, white grey, and blue robot, very similar to other Optimus Primes from other universes. Basically, a robot person with truck parts attached. DEM HIPS.
Age: It hasn't been directly stated in that specific universe, but based on others, approximately 4-5 million years old is a safe bet.

Log Sample: The transition was painfully abrupt. Literally, as his landing in in the trash heap of Zone 00 was far from gentle, and he nearly lost a limb in the process. Going from the midst of a battle for the life of a very planet, to a relatively peaceful space station elsewhere in the galaxy - elsewhere in the multiverse - was enough to throw anyone off. No team. No enemy. No friends. Everything he knew, suddenly gone, lightyears and a universe away.
And thus he was stuck, in a state of panic and battle-readiness when there was nothing to vent it on.
Though physically safe, the situation was beyond painful for him to endure. He needed, desperately, to return. To discover the fate of his team, of Earth. He had let them all down. Coming here was not his doing, yet he could not help but feel it was so despite the knowledge.
If he could not find a way to return, to somehow go back to the moment he had been taken from...the results, he could not bear to fathom.
Not even the Matrix had any wisdom for him - this sort of thing had obviously never happened before, to any of the previous Primes. Patience, they chided. Wait. Wait until he might seize his chance. There was nothing he could do, otherwise. Worrying would only distress him further, run him down and make him weak. He needed to be in top form, when -if- he managed to return.
Hope, they reminded him.
Hope was really all he had.
Network Sample:
[There is a brief scuffling sound as the audio and video connects. Someone has discovered the additional network connection and programming inside his own frame, and is not exactly entirely pleased with it. Not that it is easy to tell just who it is. The camera isn't pointed at him – in fact, it appears more like it is attached and pointing away from him. Perhaps even transmitting imagery directly from his optical sensors.]
[The voice, however, for those that know it, is distinctive.]
...This is a priority one message to all Autobots who may be in the area, within this space station, 'Sacrosanct', or transmission distance.
This is Optimus Prime. If anyone else can read me, please report in.
[A pause.]
...I hope you are not, in all honesty. I would not wish this strange fate on anyone else. But if any Autobots are here as well, please send me a signal.
[And with that...he loops the transmission, and starts walking, eventually cutting the live feed.]
